Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have been a resident of Denver, CO for a little over 15 years. I moved here in the fall of 1999. Like anyone else, I have had my ups and downs here, but over all Denver has treated me well. Since I finally have a little free time, I thought I would share some of my experiences that I have had the last 15 years here.
I'm mainly going to focus on company reviews, but I am sure I'll sprinkle in some funny stories. There are some many great local businesses in the metro area, I think its only appropriate to share them with people. I grew up in the suburbs in a medium size metro city. As most people know, the suburbs are littered with franchises and large corporations. While, I don't have an issue with these establishments, I'm just not a fan of homogeneous products and services. The old saying, "Spice is the slice of life," couldn't be more true.
When you go to a mom and pop store or restaurant you get to see what there take is on things. They don't spend $100K on market research, branding and test marketing. They come up with and idea and put it out there. If it sells, it stays on the menu, shelf, or service offering. If it bombs, well then they scrape it and move on to the next thing. This what I love about small businesses. While you might not always get something good, it most certainly will be something unique.
Besides, I like to see the dollars I spend stay in the local economy, not going to some Wall St stock holder.
I hope you enjoy my blog.
